Layton Tamberlin and Sullivan Street Partners Lead GBP15 Million Investment in Taylor Continental

Private equity investment company Sullivan Street Partners, along with direct investment business, Oakfield Capital Partners is leading an acquisition of the UK’s waste and recycling bin manufacturer, Taylor Continental Group. The family-owned business is said to be the market leader in four-wheeled steel, waste and recycle system designs. The company dates back to 1962 and was formerly known as Egbert H Taylor & Co. Ltd. In 2005, the company was bought by ECI Partners, with Sullivan Street working in tandem with ECI to manage the group just months before the deal took place.

Taylor Continental Group, located in Droitwich, Birmingham supplies more than 50,000 waste and recycling collection bins to commercial and industrial waste companies in their sector, producing enough to have more than 80 percent of the market and manufacturing more than 20,000 containers every year. And, of course, the distraction can lead to minutes or even hours wasted. Once you add up all the distractions, you can find a great deal time wasted. But, how do you keep those distractions under control?

Record low interest rates push UK savers into stocks and shares

According to figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the proportion of UK-listed shares owned by retail investors increased in 2010 for the first time in seven years and by the largest amount since 1994. At the end of 2010, the general public held 11.5pc of shares in issue, compared with 10.2pc in 2008 – the last time the ONS compiled the data.

British Gas’s famous “Tell Sid” adverts of 1986 may have spurred 1.5m members of the public into buying shares when it was privatised, but the compelling factor this time was the Bank of England’s decision to slash interest rates to a historic low of 0.5pc and print £325bn to stave off an even deeper recession.

Weekly jobless claims continue to shrink

New York – Weekly jobless claims continue to shrink, but just how low they’ll go is still on the table for economists. This past week saw initial jobless claims drop 12,000 to 367,000 claims.

The U.S. Department of Labor reported that claims fell from the prior week’s revised figure of 379,000 claims.

The four-week moving average, a more closely watched figure, was 375,750, a decrease of 2,000 from the previous week’s revised average of 377,750.
