Some of the nations biggest banks will have to cough up $25 billion, thanks to last weeks mortgage fraud settlement and more than a million homeowners could be getting a piece of that pie.
Yet some experts are concerned that the settlement might not be enough to fix all the problems caused by the foreclosure crisis.
Who qualifies? State and federal officials announced Feb. 9 the settlement with five of the nation’s biggest banks (Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, Citigroup and Ally Financial) after a 16-month investigation into allegations of fraudulent loan practices. T

Hi Erica,
What is the difference between Chapter 7 and 13 when it comes to the impact on your credit history? I dont want to get another credit card, but fear that, if I do not have one to deal with an emergency, I could be in trouble. I hated to file bankruptcy, but, even with two jobs, I was drowning. So I ended up with a Chapter 13. Im looking at retirement in 10 years. Will I have to wait that long for an improved credit rating? Dan

With a new year comes W2 forms, and it’s time to get a head start on your taxes. Waiting until the April deadline isn’t the best idea. In 2012, we should stray away from procrastination. Hi Erica, My cat Boo is in desperate need of dental work (she needs her teeth pulled out) and the estimate the vet gave me is roughly $2,000. I don’t have nearly that amount of cash in my bank account to pay upfront and my parents won’t lend me the money. The vet was really nice though and she suggested I use their CareCredit plan. I am wondering if you think its better than putting it on my credit card. I have a card that I keep empty (I rarely use it) and I believe the interest rate is around 15 percent.
