(AAPL) Apple Quarterly Earnings Beat Analysts by Almost 20%

Earnings homerun slugger Apple Inc. (AAPL) went yard once again when it announced earnings results for 2nd quarter 2011 Wednesday after the bell. Earnings of $6.40 per share beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $5.35 by 19.6%. Quarterly revenues of $24.67 billion easily topped expectations of $23.1 billion.

The after-market cheered the results and sent AAPL shares up nearly $9 after the closing bell, for a gain of over 2.5%. This followed a more tempered 1.35% gain during normal trading hours today.

Sales of iPhones stood out 18.65 million phones were sold in the quarter, up from the 16.3 million expected.

Data Does Little for Stock Futures

[] S&P futures vs fair value: +1.90. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: +4.70. Stock futures are largely unfazed by the latest dose of data, which actually proved better than expected. Durable goods orders for March increased by 2.5%, which exceeds the 1.8% increase that had been widely anticipated. The increase for March is also greater than the upwardly revised 0.7% increase registered for the prior month. Excluding transportation, durable goods orders increased by a more tepid 1.3%, which is slightly better than the 1.2% that had been expected, on average, among economists polled by . The prior month’s data was revised upward to reflect an increase of 0.6%.

Monthly Dividend Stocks

There are plenty of benefits to owning stocks that pay their dividends monthly. According to the Excel list that was just updated by WallStreetNewsNetwork.com, there are over 200 different companies that pay dividends monthly, many of which have high yields. Technically, these stocks are real estate investment trusts, oil income trusts, closed end bond funds, and closed end income stock funds, which pay dividends every month. Advantages to receiving monthly dividends as opposed to quarterly or annual dividend stocks are that the invested capital is returned faster, compounding takes place quicker, and there is usually less price volatility of the investment.
